Han-Gyeol Kim (Realbird) is a Seoul-based painter whose work explores how individual longing persists within a world that often remains structurally indifferent. Using restrained, allegorical imagery, she examines the tension between desire, perception, and external conditions. Drawing on academic training in sociology and psychology, Kim approaches emotion not as purely personal but as shaped by social frameworks and cognitive structures. Her work reframes personal tragedy through this allegorical lens, situating individual experience within broader systems rather than treating it as an isolated narrative.
김한결(Realbird)은 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 화가로, 개인의 갈망이 종종 구조적으로 무관심한 세계 속에서 어떻게 지속되는지를 탐구한다. 절제된 우화적 이미지를 통해 욕망, 인식, 그리고 외부 조건 사이에 형성되는 긴장을 살펴본다. 사회학과 심리학에 대한 학문적 배경을 바탕으로, 그는 감정을 순전히 개인적인 것으로 보기보다 사회적 구조와 인지적 틀 속에서 형성되는 것으로 접근한다. 그의 작업은 이러한 우화적 관점을 통해 개인적 비극을 재구성하며, 이를 고립된 서사가 아니라 더 넓은 구조 속 경험으로 위치시킨다.
Short Artist Statement
나는 무언가를 바라는 존재와, 그 바람에 무심한 세계를 그린다. 삶이 무거워 풍선이 되고 싶은 코끼리는 ‘풍선 꼬리를 가진 코끼리 인간’으로 구체화된다. 이 존재의 내면은 실현 가능한 욕망과 비현실적인 꿈, 나아가 아무것도 바라지 않는 상태에 머물고 싶은 모순으로 혼란스럽다. 그러나 이 소란과는 대조적으로, 세계는 언제나 덤덤하다.
색연필의 가벼운 선과 아크릴 물감의 층위는 복잡한 내면의 일렁임을 덮어 누르며, 끝내 아무 일 없이 굴러가는 세계를 구성한다. 어느 누구의 그 어떤 절망도 세계를 완전히 무너뜨릴 수 없다는 사실은 서늘하지만 묘한 평화를 준다.
I paint the longing of a being and the world’s nonchalance toward that desire.An elephant, weary of life’s weight, longs to be a balloon. This wish manifests as ‘The Elephant Human with a balloon tail’. His inner world is a mess of contradictions: tangible desires, unrealistic dreams, and the urge to want nothing at all. Yet, the world remains indifferent to this internal noise.
The light lines of colored pencils and the layered presence of acrylic paint suppress the flickering traces of a turbulent heart, completing the firm surface of a world that remains unshaken. The realization that no one’s despair can truly break the world is stark, yet it brings a strange peace.
