3월 말 인사동에서 전시를 하였습니다. Lart에서 주최한 ‘질주하는 마음들’이라는 전시입니다. 전시 제목이 제 작품들과 잘 어울릴 것 같아 참여하게 되었습니다. 세 작품을 동시에 보여드릴 수 있는 날이 있기를 바랐는데, 이렇게 보여드릴 수 있어 기쁩니다. 코끼리가 풍선이 되고 싶어 하다가, 새가 물고 온 힌트에 힘입어 풍선 코끼리 인간이 되는 이야기입니다.

At the end of March, I participated in an exhibition in Insadong. It was an exhibition titled Running Hearts, organized by Lart

. I decided to participate because the title seemed to fit well with my works. I had always hoped for a chance to present these three works together, so I am happy that I was finally able to do so. It is a story about an elephant who longs to become a balloon and, inspired by a clue carried by a bird, gradually becomes something new.

이렇게 작가가 많은 그룹전은 사실 작품 하나하나가 온전히 관람객에게 닿기 어려운 것 같습니다. 그래도 다양한 작업을 하시는 작가님들을 알게 되는 기쁨이 있습니다. 많은 그림들 속에서 저만의 최애 그림도 골라 보았습니다.

In large group exhibitions with so many participating artists, it can honestly be difficult for each individual work to fully reach the audience. Still, there is joy in getting to know artists with diverse practices. Among the many artworks, I also chose a few personal favorites of my own.

인사동에는 그림 감상에 익숙한 분들이 많아서인지, 관람객분들이 한 번 머물기 시작하면 오래 그림을 감상하시는 것 같습니다. 그림 앞에 오래 머무르시는 분들에게는 다가가 명함을 드리며, 원하시면 작품 설명도 해드리는 시간을 가졌습니다. 설레기도 하고 쑥스럽기도 했습니다. 늘 작품을 외부에 보이는 건 긴장되면서도 설레는 일인 것 같습니다. 앞으로도 이런 순간들이 길게 이어지기를 바랍니다.

Perhaps because many visitors in Insadong are familiar with appreciating art, once they stop in front of a painting, they often spend a long time looking at it. I spent time approaching those who lingered in front of my works, offering them my business card and, if they wished, explaining the pieces to them. It felt both exciting and a little embarrassing. Showing my work publicly always feels both nerve-racking and exciting at the same time. I hope moments like these will continue for a long time.
